New On30 Loco

Hi Folks:
Its been awhile since my last post, as my modeling sure has slowed down these last couple of months. I am still attending the occasional op sessions on Doug's WRS (see link below) although I did miss the last one. As I said not much to post, but I wanted to make a post just to keep this blog going. On that note, one piece of news is that I recently acquired a new Bachmann 2-6-6-2 loco from another member of our NBR&N modular group. It has the built in Sound Traxx sound system and I must say it is a beautiful loco. The articulated build gives it that little bit extra of visual attraction. It was originally lettered for a Colorado short line and had a coal load. One of the great things about most Bachmann On30 locos is that they give you a bag or two of extra detail parts to customize your loco. I decided to switch out the tender light, changed the coal load for a oil tank, and changed the smoke stack. I did this to attempt to give the loco more of an Eastern flavor to fall in line with our NBR&N theme. Once this was done, our group resident painting expert- Dave M worked his magic on it both decaling it and adding a very nicely done weathering job. This loco has already become one of my favorites and will eventually be used not only on our club modules, but will grace the rails of my home On30 layout someday. Have a look at this posts photo to see what a beauty it is. Till next time....
